Due to rapid expansion, American Winds College of Aeronautics at Akron Fulton Airport in Akron, Ohio is hiring immediatelyfor Certified Flight Instructors, Certified Flight Instrument Instructors, and Multi-Engine Instructors. American Winds College of Aeronautics is the latest Federal and State certified college specializing exclusively in preparing individuals for a career in aviation, both as a pilot and in airport management. 

Being used primarily for general aviation, Akron Fulton Airport (Class E) is an ideal location for training with a 6336 x 150 foot runway, fuel truck delivery, ASOS information, excellent navigational VFR landmarks for student pilots, and Class C (Akron Canton) and Class B (Cleveland Hopkins) airports nearby for more advanced students. American Winds owns an expanding fixed wing aircraft fleet with upgrades to engines and avionics being made on our present aircraft. All aircraft are hangered, and we have our own in-house mechanic to maintain our fleet. 

Candidates must live within driving distance of Akron, OH or be willing to relocate. Relocation is not offered.

Assistant Chief Pilot


Aircraft types operated: Cessna 150, Cessna 172, Piper Warrior, Piper Apache, Piper Cherokee, Piper Arrow and Piper Seneca II

Minimum requirements:

  • Position requires dividing time between Part 135 charter flights, stage checks, flight and ground instruction and operational duties.

  • Prefer candidates who meet ATP minimums. Special consideration may be given for military experience and/or PIC time. Competitive candidates must meet FAR Part 135 PIC requirement. Applicant must be able to pass and maintain good standing on drug program. Applicant must possess the legal right to work in the United States and have the ability travel throughout the U.S.

  • College degree desirable, but not required.

  • Previous experience in management/supervisory role.

  • CFI, CFII and MEI.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties in relation to Pilot-in-Command responsibilities.
  • Provide ground and flight instruction.
  • Assist Chief Pilot in managing a team of flight instructors.
  • Perform checkrides and consult with Chief Pilot on student progress.
  • Coordinate & disseminate information with/from the Director of Maintenance on current airworthiness status of the aircraft, maintenance scheduling, and aircraft squawks.
  • Assist Chief Pilot in daily operations of the flight school/College and charter company.

Other duties as assigned.

Required skills:

  • Working knowledge of all Federal Aviation Regulations applicable to FAR Part 135, Part 141 and Part 61.
  • Strong organizational skills & advanced multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal/written and presentation skills are necessary to perform job at the expected level.
  • Computer skills necessary to operate word processing, email and web-based applications.
  • Must possess a passionate attention to detail and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.

Certified Flight Instructors
Tasks & Responsibilities

May include, but not limited to any or all of the following:

  • Maintain flight training standards as outlined by both the FAA and American Winds College of Aeronautics
  • Maintain student pass rate at or greater than 80%
  • Meet with each student as published on schedule
  • Ensure that all flight lessons are completed according to the Training Course Outline specifications
  • Ensure that all appropriate endorsements are made correctly on the student's record and personal logbook
  • Ensure policies and procedures of the SOP Manual are maintained
  • Ensure assigned students' training records were kept according to American Winds College of Aeronautics and FAA policy
  • Submit requests for stage checks upon completion of each stage of flight training
  • Ensure that all flight lessons and documentation are completed before the request for stage check or checkride
  • Help students pull aircraft in/out of hangar
  • Teaching ground school subjects or aviation academic subjects such as Advanced Aerodynamics, Aircraft Identification, FAR's
  • Assists in departmental activities; attends meetings; performs other duties as assigned
  • Make Chief Flight Instructor aware of aircraft problems and student progress

Requirements

Candidates must possess a CFI certificate along with a valid medical and/or meet Basic Medical requirements to act as PIC. CFII/MEI is preferred and will be required after hiring. Employees will enjoy discounted rates along with assistance to obtain future licensure.


Student Services Coordinator
Core responsibilities:
• Handle incoming inquiries or student concerns; provide follow up on all inquiries
• Assist new students through admission processes; includes domestic and international students as well as those eligible for VA benefits
• Prepare and deliver student admissions and orientation sessions
• Participate in development activities aimed at student awareness and retention
• Track prospective students from query points to the registration processes
• Ensure proper maintenance of all files and database
• Prepare for and participate in college or school events
• Monitor students with identified needs and complete appropriate paperwork
• Create and maintain liaison with administration, instructors and office staff

Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent
• Excellent customer service and presentation skills
• Previous work with students; post-secondary preferred
• Experience with student programming and managing orientation processes
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, work under pressure and, when necessary, with minimal resources
• Ability to work with individuals from various cultural backgrounds
• Willing to be on-call outside of normal business hours
• Able to manage relationships with peers, senior managers, academic stakeholders, parents and students from a wide range of backgrounds
• Able to focus on details and manage time wisely

Finance / Office Assistant
Core responsibilities:
• Maintain daily transaction of invoices and payment, monitoring student funds, handles student financial loan payments, and bank deposits

• Reviews the daily invoices and payments for the college and private air charter

• Handling of bank accounts, reconcile and maintain detailed and accurate banking.

• Files all company invoices, memos, letters, etc. into the appropriate company files.

• Maintains student's financial records (VA, Pilot Finance, other loan) with oversight by the President.

• Maintains Veteran Administration records, file report, and correspondence.

• Assists the Director of Maintenance with work aircraft invoices, records, and logbooks.

Qualifications
• Associate Degree in Accounting

• At least three years of accounting/treasury experience

• Working knowledge of principles of payroll accounting, treasury operation and the general accounting process; working knowledge of modern office methods, procedures and equipment.

• Ability to keep routine financial records and to prepare routine financial reports; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to create effective working relationships with employees and other departments.
